After about twelve years of practising the various disciplines of the organ maker’s trade in the wood workshop, and having tackled various malfunctions and repairs on site, Michiel has been working, since 2021, more and more as a pipe maker. The desire to work with diverse materials and techniques is in line with his previous career: building sets and props for stop-motion animation and models for architects.
Also in the field of sound, Michiel has found opportunities to develop further at Flentrop; he is regularly used as a (reed work) tuner. His interest in sound is also reflected at home; Michiel can often be found in his self-built home studio, building string and keyboard instruments. He also likes to do odd jobs on his house and sail his boat on the Zaan.
