Flentrop Organ Building is proud to announce that we have been commissioned to build a brand-new main organ for the Cathedral of St. Peter in Chains in Cincinnati, Ohio (USA).
The new instrument will replace the existing main organ, reusing large portions of the current case—made of beautiful Peruvian mahogany. To provide more space for both the organ and the cathedral’s choirs, the gallery will also be deepened by one bay.
Part of a lager musical plan
This unique project is scheduled for completion in 2030. It is therefore part of a larger musical plan for the cathedral, which also includes the construction of a transept organ and a choir organ.
For Flentrop, this is a unique opportunity to contribute to the future of the cathedral with an instrument that harmonizes with Cincinnati’s rich liturgical and musical tradition. We look forward to bringing this special organ to life in the coming years, together with the community and the musicians involved.
