Organ builder, tuner, voicer, employed since the end of 2022
Jacques has completed training in both metalworking and woodworking. He also studied piano and organ music. After several years of organ-building as holiday work, his career proper began at the Adema-Schreurs firm in Amsterdam. Here, Jacques mastered all the usual organ-building skills. Pneumatic and electro-pneumatic organs are no problem for him.
In 1990 Jacques made the switch to Pels & van Leeuwen in Den Bosch. At this company, the emphasis was placed more on tuning and maintaining church organs, as well as repairing organ pipes and voicing. He voiced new organs and was jointly responsible for sound reconstructions during restorations.
After several years working as a freelancer for Slooff Orgelbouw, he became, himself, in 2013 head of Slooff Orgelbouw as a private limited company. Here he carried out several restorations, built a new organ and brought into being the largest organ of Slooff Orgelbouw. In 2022, Slooff Orgelbouw ceased its own operations. Jacques and his associate now both work for Flentrop, where they continue to serve Slooff’s old customers as much as possible.
