Joep’s career began in music after finishing secondary school. He studied electronic music production and studio engineering at the Herman Brood Academy, and later worked as a recording and mixing engineer at two recording studios in Amsterdam, where he took part in many wonderful projects.
His move into organ building grew from his love of craft and sound – a passion that started when he built his own acoustic panels and studio furniture, and truly came to life during the restoration of his harmonium.
Joep started at Flentrop as a tuner, but found his true place in the pipe workshop.
Working on the sounding heart of the organ appealed to him immediately, and he now enjoys mastering this centuries-old craft every day.
